Fun Spanish movie with biliingual subs? | ||

I've had Spanish on my long-term list for years, but in light of recent discussions about all-video learning, I've decided it would be fun to try a little subs2srs experiment with a Spanish movie or TV show.
Here's what I would need: 1. A fun movie, something which is worth rewatching. It can be a good Latin American dub of an English-language movie. 2. Accurate Spanish subtitles that match the audio, with only occasional omissions for space. 3. Decent English subtitles. This would allow me to make my own subs2srs deck. Since you said Latin American, you may not be interested, but if you can find the subtitles for any of the films that Guillermo Toledo appears in, you might enjoy them. They're light-hearted Spanish comedies, for the most part (although El Crimen ferpecto is a dark comedy, but I think it would be easy enough to follow).
A couple other films he's appeared in that are enjoyable are "Salir Pitando" and "El Asombroso Mundo de Borjamari y Pocholo", the second especially hilarious, even if it's very silly humor - I laughed pretty much through the entire film. "El Crimen ferpecto" also stars a great actress named Mónica Cervera who's done some great work in other films. "Y tú mama también" also came to mind for me, but it has a lot of Mexican slang in the dialogue. I understand Spanish fairly well, but I really struggled and needed English subtitles for that movie. That might just be because I'm far more used to Peninsular Spanish though; maybe the level of slang is OK for someone more familiar with Mexican/Latin American. I'm not sure if this is a concern, depends what you're looking for.

I recommend Matando Cabos. It has accurate, full length subtitles in Spanish. English subs are available on the DVD and online as well. This is a heck of a fun film. The movie has some Mexican slang but it isn't overwhelming. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |

I don't particularly enjoy Spanish movies, but I found Ocho apellidos vascos to be very entertaining. It makes
fun of prejudices and stereotypes of two regions in Spain: the Basque Country and Andalusia. 1 person has voted this message useful |
