Another good thread would be a technical one. How to download, how to edit audio/video files, how to convert subtitles, etc. |

That's more suitable for a wiki, I think.

Ukrainian:
http://lab.chass.utoronto.ca/rescentre/slavic/ukr/audio/ (This site is navigable in Ukrainian only and is encoded in "Cyrillic Windows-1251" instead of Unicode. Make sure that your browser is configured to the former otherwise the page will not display properly!)
This is a collection of Ukrainian spoken word in .m3u or .mp3 for a few works from Ukrainian literature as well as Ukrainian translations of a few works by non-Ukrainian writers. Unfortunately I cannot find accompanying texts on this site but it may be possible to find at least the corresponding Ukrainian texts at the Ukrainian Electronic library: http://www.utoronto.ca/elul/Main-Ukr.html.

Added, thank you. It's great to get more audio for the smaller Slavic languages (as well as smaller/less studied languages in general).

Have anyone posted this link?
http://ska4ka.com/ - it's another project of uz-translations.net.
Can anybody help me please? I can't find the text of Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Hound of Baskervilles" in Italian ("Il mastino dei Baskerville"). Google linked only commercial sites...
Thanks in advance :)

It seems that some languages are quite well served with audiobooks, and in others they hardly exist at all. Has
anyone found any unabridged novels in Chinese or Portuguese?
I've spent many days pounding the streets of Taipei and Lisbon looking, but I've not found any, apart from bibles -
which is possible for me, but I'd prefer novels.

Mark Chapman:
There are hundreds of audio novels and stories in Mandarin available for free download at VeryCD.com Some are
obviously pirated but (probably) most are not. They range from material aimed at four year olds, to Chinese classics
such as “The Dream of the Red Mansions”. Many are translations of Western novels such as “Anna Karenina”. A lot
of the material is recorded from radio programs.
I wrote a long post about this site and how to use it a few months ago. You might try searching for it.
