This site has Japanese audio for a good number of works. Mostly short stories, including "The Little Prince," Tolstoy's "Ivan the Fool," Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Adventure of the Dancing Men," and most of Natsume's novel, "Kokoro." I'll update the list in my previous post as I work my way through this site.

I've found this site with a few classical works in English: http://www.loudlit.org/collection.htm
This is from their website:

Putting the text and audio together, readers can learn spelling, punctuation and paragraph structure by listening and reading masterpieces of the written word. Read and listen via your web browser or on your mp3 player."

I found a great site where literary works in Japanese are placed in parallel text in English. I think the site is meant to be a resource for Japanese people wanting to learn English, but obviously it works the other way, as well! Some of the works they've done include a few on the list of free Japanese audiobooks on the last page, so I've noted them there.

Since the list of Japanese audiobooks may get buried in this thread, I'm adding it to the first post of my Learning Log and will continue updating it over there.

I'm having a problem finding a good resource for German. I've been to vorleser.net and looked through a few books, but some of the audio differs from the text hosted at Gutenberg. I've also tried German-grammar.de, which has side-by-side English/German, but in that case, the English translation was not as literal as other translations I have come across.
Isn't there some site out there with accurate, side-by-side German/English with accurate mp3 recordings for a number of long texts? I'd really like to use this method, but I'm finding it difficult to find exactly the sort of materials siomotteikiru uses.
