Also, I really think the Internet Archive would be the best place to put these courses, at least until Poetry gets a DLI site up and running. Archive is a legitimate website, so you don't run the risk of being accused of piracy, and also they can check the copyright status of the courses. |

Yeah, I tried to upload to archive.com the other night. It took soooo long to upload the zip file to that site... by the time the upload was finished, the site had logged me out and I had to start all over again. Rapid share has definitely been easier to upload files to. Serbo-Croatian should be done by tonight. I'll try to do Russian and MS Arabic over the weekend.
Side note - Hey Tony! A plea to add Dutch, Romanian or Polish next since there's no FSI equivalent courses on the FSI site :-) !!

I don't think they have the resources to do that. It's a massive operation in terms of disc space and bandwidth, but a fairly small operation in terms of staff. It's probably best to clear up all copyright issues as best you can before uploading -- it looks like the FSI-language-courses community is working through it pretty thoroughly to identify what can and can't be published.

Many, many thanks to Fat-Tony, as well as to everyone else involved, for making these materials available.
As an aside, the first two DLI courses made available on the net, French and Arabic, are still seeding as torrents:
French: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1593799
Arabic (MSA): http://www.mininova.org/tor/1590789

I downloaded these but could not get any of them to open with a bitzipper. Am I doing
something wrong?

You need HJSplit to join the files. It is a freeware programme available from www.cnet.com (link here)

DLI Russian is now up - check the DLI files link.
I don't plan to put up MS Arabic since it is already a working torrent.
