(huh, first post :)
I've been to Wroclaw recently and stumbled upon "Polnisch entdecken. Eine Lerngrammatik" by Liliana Madelska (also available in English and Polish).
By now I finished half of the book and it is really really well written! Even the use of motion verbs start making sense now ;) The grammar in there is limited to the essentials and not as comprehensive as e.g. Swan's etc.
I'm not quite sure if you would get that book in a non-polish bookstore, though, but it can be ordered via http://www.hurra.edu.pl/
