Well, I like Linguaphone, and it has a follow-on course, and also I am a great fan of Living Language, which also has an advanced course, but if I were learning French today, knowing what I know now (if you see what I mean) I'd go for the slightly older BB series of A Vous La France/France Extra/Franc Parler with all the materials.

Pimsleur is a great start too, but very expensive.

I meant to write BBC French in my last post.

Buttons, if you like French DVDs, you might find this interesting...

Hi Buttons.

In all honesty, no. My French is at degree level, and I used to teach it, so I doubt I'd get a lot from it. I came across the Movie Talk series a few years ago, and I thought it looked like a really good idea. I would consider giving it a go with another language though.

You're right about the price though.

Today i bought the Assimil French course (in Italian).

I am thinking to buy a dictionary, is useful to take a big size dictionary or for the assimil course it's ok a small dictionary with about 30.000 words?

For the Assimil course you don't need any dictionary. And surely you will find plenty of online French - Italian dictionaries if you want to check a word.

Surely a dictionary might be useful in general.

Did you buy the audio too? I can't imagine studying French (as opposed to other languages) without audio.
