Day 39 (20/06/2008)
German: Assimil lesson 53 in the passive wave and lesson 4 in the active wave. I also listened to the podcast I subscribed to yesterday while reading the dialog. The language is above my level but I did gain some new words out of it. (Total time: 50mins, Total time: 28hr 52mins) Russian: Did the exercises in Princeton lesson 3, listened to the dialogue a few times and went through the pronounciation section of the lesson. Day 42 (23/06/2008)
German: Review lesson for lessons 51-56 of Assimil. For the first time, there is some grammar here that I haven't covered anywhere else so I made sure I got that down. The book said to do the seventh lesson in the active wave but as that is a review lesson, I wasn't entirely sure as to what I was supposed to do so I just did the first 6 lessons again. Spent about 20 minutes listening to podcasts and online radio in German. (Time spent: 1hr 30mins, Total time: 31hr 42mins) Russian: Princeton lesson 5. The dialogues are very short in this course so I will be re-introducing Living Language Ultimate into my schedule. German: Assimil lesson 57 in the passive and 8 in the active wave and some more online radio. (Time spent: 1hr, Total time: 32hr 42mins) Russian: Re-listened to the second half of the first CD of the Michel Thomas foundation course then did Princeton lesson 6. I also went through the dialogue for Living Language Ultimate lesson 2 and quickly looked at the grammar section. Not a great day today. I pretty much did whatever was required to continue with the courses I am mostly focusing on and no more.

Day 45 (26/06/2008)
German: Assimil lesson 59 in the passive wave and 10 in the active wave. This was the first lesson in the active wave to give me any problems, I forgot the work for "surprise" (Überraschung). (Time spent: 35 minutes, Total time: 33hr 47mins) Russian: Princeton lesson 8. At the moment, I am just going through the dialogues of these, reading the grammar and doing some exercises in my head, once I have completed the first chapter (11 lessons), I will spend a few days going much more in depth. The lessons are very detailed and I would prefer, at least in the early stages, to get some foothold into the language first. Today, I had my first experience of German cinema in Lola Rennt. An interesting film if not that useful from a language learning perspective as are long spells with no dialogue. I didn't understand a great deal other than occasional words and phrases and would have been pretty lost as to what was being said if I didn't have English subtitles.
Day 46 (28/06/2008) German: Assimil lesson 61 in the passive wave and 12 in the active wave. I think I need more practice with the grammar so I am attempting FSI again. I listened to the basic sentences section of Unit 3 and did the first part of the substitution drill. (Time spent: 1hr 30 mins, Total time: 36hr 2mins) Russian: Princeton lesson 9 and the second half of Michel Thomas Foundation. (Time spent: 1hr 30mins, Total time: 15hr 7mins) Day 47 (29/06/2008) German: Assimil lesson 62 in the passive wave and 13 in the active wave.
