First, a question: does anyone know of a way to get "Мы говорим и читаем по-польски" by S. Karolak, which was published in Warsaw in 1986? The only things I find when googling are libraries in other countries, and a few small online shops I've never heard of.
Secondly: the Taste of Russian podcast seems to be good. I've just listened to the first podcast of it, and found it both comprehensible and pleasant. It's entirely in Russian, which is a big advantage, and the speaker's voice is pleasant.

I listened to 'A Taste of Russian News #4'. I found it extremely annoying, unnatural. |

Hm. That's a pity. Howso?

It is spoken quite slowly and with lots of unnatural breaks in the middle of sentences, but as a learner that's probably ideal. You may also want to check out this site. It's got lots of news clips spoken slowly and clearly, but also more naturally.

Ideal? Let me vehemently disagree. Spoken language is primarily proper rhythm and intonation. You can speak slowly but naturally. Garbage in, garbage out. |

The 4th podcast seems to be the worst of the first 5 by a significant amount. Still, I'm glad you pointed this out; I was seriously considering listening to this a significant amount during my upcoming 5 days traveling by car, and the intonation is an excellent reason not to.

You could also try using the sites of radio stations like Эхо москвы, which put up (almost...they do leave out verbal tics and such) full transcripts of their shows along with the audio.
