I have expressed in the past the opinion (and people have criticized me for this...) that for Italian Pimsleur is not as "necessary" as for French or Russian, because its pronunciation - in my opinion! - is quite straightforward, especially for a Finn, once you know the basic pronunciation rules (ci - chi, ce - che, etc.). The only tricky part is stress placement, as in Russian.
But better to continue with Pimsleur if you only have a crappy textbook! |

I do agree with this. I do not have any bigger problems with Italian pronunciation however I don't seem to be able to pronounce even simplest word in French. Of course I don't have perfect I Italian pronunciation but I could speak to somebody and they would probably understand.
Sunday I did most of the things I intended to do. I found my tapes and did most of Italian lesson but I only did Pimsleur Italian 9 and French 2. Yesterday I was in work and after that I didn't have time to do anything.
Today I'll do Pimsleur Italian 10 and I'll try FSI French pronunciation tape. I hope that'll help me pronounce those words. I'll finish Italian lesson 3 and start fourth one.

Today I did Pimsleur Italian lesson 11 and it was pretty easy. I am little bit worried because I actually didn't concentrate at all. I don't know if it was too easy for me then but I seriously need speaking practice before I go to Italy. I still need to do my text book lesson 4. Yesterday I only translated it.
I abandoned my Pimsleur French for a moment and started FSI's Introduction to French Phonology. I already did chapter 01 and I think I understood more than I did with Pimsleur. Of course they are quite different courses.
I try to do something more with my French but I really have to concentrate to Italian since I have little over month to go. After that I'll concentrate to French and Russian.
Could somebody tell me how to change the target language of this topic. I accidentally choose English.

theoretically you should be able to change it by editing the first post in the thread, but actually it will still show the one you originally chose...

Nope. That didn't work but I guess that wrong language isn't the end of the world.
Today I did lesson 4 from Italian text book. I didn't have time to do Pimsleur or anything else. I'll have more time tomorrow.

Italian study time: 1,5 hours
I did Pimsleur's lesson 12
and lesson 5 from my text book
I learned prepositions a, in, da and per but I still not remember them very well. I'll review them tomorrow. They also introduced 20 new verbs and I can remember about 5 of them so I probably have to review whole thing tomorrow. My biggest weakness in languages is always my vocabulary. I don't remember words easily.
I have pretty weak listening comprehension so I have to listen at least 10 minutes a day Italian. I try to increase the time so I would listen at least hour a day. I hope that I have enough time. I am very busy woman. ;)

Yesterday I listened about 10 minutes Italian internet radio. I didn't understand much of it and I didn't do anything else at all.
Study time: Italian ½ hour
I translated lesson 5 again and started lesson 6. I only had time to translate first dialog (there is two in one lesson) and I watched little bit of grammar.
Study time: French 1.5 hours
I got My French Coach game and that is the main reason why I didn't study Italian so much. It is fun game and I believe that I'll play it pretty much in future.
I'll try to post more from now on.

Morning: I watched Italian internet tv but I didn't understand very much. And the show was really boring so I didn't concentrate much. I am trying to find interesting tv channel probably some cartoons. They aren't so complicated. I already watched some Disney' song in Italian but I couldn't understand them.
I got my Italian and French easy readers today. Italian one seemed to be easy but I only have time to read first page. Text in French one was more complicated but I should be able to read it.
