I am starting the Total Annihilation Challenge 4 days late, so I only have 241 days instead of 245 :) .
My goal is To reach an ACTFL level of Superior in Spanish by January 1st, although I probably won't be able to take the test until January 2nd. This level meets my definition of basic fluency. Right now I am at an Intermediate-Mid or Intermediate-High level.
For Arabic (Egyptian Dialect), Advanced low would be nice. I have no idea how far I will actually get, but it should be fun to find out. I have only listened to 5 lessons of Pimsleur Egyptian Arabic, so my current knowledge is a little more than zero.
I also reserve the right to give a little study to other languages if the desire hits me.
I am planning on putting in a total of 500 hours worth of study (not counting time I spend in countries where the language is spoken). That is a little over 2 hours a day, which seems doable. A big part of my challange is taking the ACTFL test for a 3rd party, objective evaluation of my profeciency. I might take it for Spanish at the end of June, just to get a better idea of where I am at.
This is going to be fun!
Jon

May 5, 2008:
Started late and only did a 10 minute review of 50 vocabulary words :( > Pathetic, but I've started and now I will improve. I'm going 4 1.5 hours on the 6th. We shall see.

NOTHING
This sucks but I'm not going to quit. I have been very lazy. The one nice thing is that keeping this log shows me just HOW LAZY I have been.
