Well it seems I'm in luck. I also just started learning German, yesterday in fact. I unboxed my Rosetta Stone German Levels 1-3 and installed it.

I am looking for another English speaking German student ( self learning is probably best) to talk to and practice conversations with. I use Skype and my Skype name is listed here for the forums. Please send me an email or Skype me if your interested in having someone to run through basic German conversations with. Just don't expect me to be a master at this point.

Matthew, if you just started learning German yesterday you might want to study for a couple of months until you start with conversations ;)

Yeah, thats why I'm not looking for a German master to talk to. Just looking for another student to test out new words with and kind of use to gage my progress to make sure i'm moving along at a compairable pace.

Doing something with someone else also makes it more fun, so knowing other people who are learning, and having the same problems to work through as myself might keep me motivated in a way too.

If you want to work on your grammar and on being accurate with cases etc, I recommend you complement your RS course with a book called "KLIPP UND KLAR" or also "SAGEN UND SCHREIBEN". I learnt German on my own and I found these two books quite useful.
Then you can listen online to German radio, check deutsche welle website, they have a link to their live radio
