I remember !Vamos al ajo ¡
But:
There is a more modern or simply different vernacular expression for "let's concentrate
on the core, let's go to the essential"
And I can't remember it, I tink it's another !Vamos al something ¡
Does that ring anyone's bell ?

I've never heard 'vamos al ajo'. What I hear and say is 'Vamos al lío'
