I wish I had a video or audio file to explain this.

Years ago I remember a commercial for noodles (shim ramyun?) and at the end, the guy said something that sounded like (remember, my ability to hear Korean is horrible):

"daaaaa amnida!"

or maybe

"daaaaa hamnida!"

(or the initial consonant could have also possibly been tt or T').

Anyway, between the drawn out "a" vowel on the first syllable and the rest of the word, it became guttural. I don't mean a quick guttural like in German, I mean the guttural sound was drawn out, too.

Let "x" represent the "ach" sound in German:

He said: "Daaxxxxxxx hamnida."

Hope I explained that well. The guttural sound went on for a few "syllables'" time.

I wish I had a microphone, I would just record myself saying it.

Anyway, when does Korean become guttural? Is this a colloquial thing for emphasis or something? I hear it occasionally in Korean dramas during speech (not just after someone takes a shot of alcohol, lol).

It could just be a run-on to the "h", which you often hear in Chinese as well. If you try holding an elongated "h", it's easy to pronounced it as a hard German "ch".
