Last week was a very fun week for me. My school gave me a 1 week vacation and I went over to Japan to see the volcanos in Kumamoto. I also got to go tour Nagasaki. Besides getting some beautiful pictures and some good weather, I actually had the chance to use some Japanese survival phrases with the locals. For that, I carried a small Korean-to-Japanase dictionary, a beginner's Japanese grammar book, and a printout of phrases from linguanaut. Knowing some basic phrases definitely helped go a long way over there.   I finally came back to Korea last Saturday.

Today, I decided to get back on track with Korean and continue studying through the New Testament in the Korean Bible. I'll probably continue doing some Japanese studying from time to time, but do my best to keep my focus on Korean. I can say for certain that Japanese seems more difficult with the multiple pronounciations for the Kanjis, the exceptions in their counting system, and longer words.

How did you find the speed of Japanese after spending time studying Korean? When I went to Fukuoka recently I felt that Japanese was really slow in comparison to Korean.

They do speak Japanese a little bit more slowly than Koreans speak Korean. Also, when Japanese speak Japanese, its more soft than the Korean that Koreans speak.
