I'm currently learning the Arabic Alphabet with this book. My goal is to learn to write all the letters before the end of the month of April. It's hard to squeeze in time in between classes and studying, but it's feasible.

That's a great book for the alphabet. I've also got this book and this one which are quite useful. Good luck with your studies.

I am using the same book to learn the alphabet. I also have a very patient Arabic-speaking friend who has agreed to help me with the pronunciation of some of the more difficult sounds.
I'm also listening to Arabic music as I write this. ^_^

I can now read and write basic words and sentences thanks to the help of my friends. I have almost completed the whole book. Everything is sinking in like planned. I'm keeping up the rhythm. Love Arabic :)

Congratulations. Now that you are starting to read, I'm sure that your learning will increase meteorically.

Yes, congratulations! What are you planning to do now that you've finished the book? I think I will be finishing the book in a week, but I'm not exactly sure where to go from there.

You could go for a course in Arabic (e.g. Assimil or Linguaphone) or start reading books, newspapers, etc. and ask your patient Arabic-speaking friend to help you with listening skills.

I noticed that in your profile you said you were using Linguaphone for Arabic. How are you finding it? What are the lessons like? Is it worth so much money?
I think I will try to do a combination of courses, reading, and chatting with my friend. Got quite a way to go...
