In addition to the other methods you are considering, perhaps using Miss Hopper's "Reading-Listening" method would be good. The story "The Little Prince" is available in English and Spanish in pdf format. The pdf and audio is available in Spanish from Learning to Learn Languages and she does not read fast, so I think this would be an excellent choice for many students.

8th, 123 minutes, another good day, 77 minutes of MTadv. Doing a lot of MT is quite useful and i think i am learning a lot more, currently doing a lot on tenses. I am on the simple past tense at the minute. 17 minutes on flashcards, and 24 minutes making new flashcards, all the progress on MT means im spending more time everyday making flashcards than actually using them. ANd finally 5 minutes on BBC Mundo.
Thanks for the advice, ill take a look at teh links.

9th, not a real strong day, was busy looking at kettlebells, don't ask, and ended up starting with my flashcards, first few was relatively new stuff and i wasnt doing too well remembering it so ended up not doing too much on that day. Total 33 minutes, 26 minutes to answer all my flashcards, ended up ok, just lost some confidence/interest after the first few not going so
well. checked how my learning went with Iversen's method, i had one lot of 5 words and one of 7, remembered 10 of them, spelling and everything, after writing the list 2 days before, the 2 i forgot were ones i should have known and would have got if i had been concentrating more. Only took 3 minutes to check these, think ill do this twice a week, so i only have one wordlist/set of wordlists running at once, should learn at least twenty words a week. Ill be happy with that amount of extra words, over what i learn in other ways. And because of the limited work only had a few flashcards to make, 4 minutes.
When i am less busy with work, if that happens again, then i may be able to more time in again, but as things are looking i will not be putting in as much time as most of the total annihilation people.
This weekend ill probably give a brief update of what i think i have accomplished so far in this TAC period. seems to be working.
thanks for reading

Don't worry about time relative to other people. What's "total annihilation" varies a lot from person to person, and based on circumstances, I think. I know that 'total annihilation' for me during exams and preparing to present my senior work, etc, was quite constrained.
How's the kettlebell work going?
Good work with the flashcards. I'm glad that the TAC is working for you.

I finished on Monday, so now my personal challenge is mixing the TAC and my summer job. I think all of the exams went well. Good luck with both the kettlebells and the Spanish.
Which of your methods are you finding most and least helpful?

volte, definitely think flashcards are helping me remember words and the tenses. I think working on it everyday is helping, hearing the words spoken aloud is helping, and reading the news on 20minutos or bbc mundo is helping reaffirm my knowledge and building confidence. Iversens wordlists seems to be going okay, going to keep plugging with it and i should get better with it.
not a 100% sure podcasts, mainly news ones, are that effective at the minute, and i wouldnt sit and just listen to them as my time would be best spent on more active learning, but in the background they are fine.
ill post later about what i did yesterday, and if i think of any more positives and negatives ill post them also, as i cant see my notebook from here.
