I have been learning Swedish for some time now, perhaps 2 years of a VERY slow learning...every month I learned a few words here and there.Nevertheless; I have problems understanding and my speaken Swedish is full of errors.
So here is my plan, I will learn the language well enough to communicate with people (I am living in Sweden right now) during the next 6 weeks, and I am going to use the reading - listening - memorising method. I have an audio book with text for the book "Man som hatar kvinnor" and I am going to memorize the introduction and the 1st chapter. I believe that if I succeed doing that, my Swedish will improve rapidly. Its about 25 pages. Ill let you know ow it goes. Do read something that is of interest in your target language. I can't stress this well enough, it is crucial that what you read actually appeals to you. I do that :) The book is interesting enough so far, if it starts gettiong boring I will either switch to another chapter or change the book! :)

I am also learning Swedish. I am memorizing children's songs, which I guess is similar to memorizing a book. (My language journal thread is called "Swedish Chef"). Sometime in the future I think I would like to try using an audiobook. Can you tell me what the Swedish word for "audiobook" is? If I do get one in the future, I will have to know what to search for!
