Well here it is: my learning journal of 2008. I initially started learning Dutch because of girlfriend who lives in Belgium. When she went working during the summer when I was staying with her family, her mother and I would start talking together and that was how I took my first few steps. Right now I'm just in love with the language--the sound, feel of it and the culture that comes with it.
So where am I today? I'm happy to say that I can understand at least 60 % of all texts that I come over. Each time I'm in België I've bought magazines, books and DVD's in Dutch (Flemish) which I thouroughly go over in Norway. But I also ask alot of questions whenever I'm visiting my girlfriend.
I've just started with flashcards and I'm currently reading a translated version of The Da Vinci Code, which my girlfriend's father was kind enough to lend me. I do have to look up alot of words, but reading entire pages without having to look up anything makes it all worth it. :-)
