I love listening to Simultaneous Bible Preaching Translation where the preacher says a phrase in English and the translator then immediately translates it into the target language. I find it an excellent way to pick up vocabulary and also the process of guessing at what the translation will be and comparing it to the actual translation is a great way to build language skills. Here is an example of English to German (First two links “Seminar mit Vincent Skinner):

Does anyone else enjoy this and do you have any links to MP3s?

I assume that you are a real Bible expert, JW. I tried out the 3 MP3 links on this website, but I can't open them. I won't miss anything, because I am not a Christian. I have other topics of interest. But perhaps you can look for yourself, because in Germany there is a TV program called "Bibel TV" and in the Netherlands you should look under "Evangelische Omroep" (EO). It's not my piece of cake, but perhaps you can find something suitable there.

Yes, I am a serious student of the word. I have been studying it daily for 23 years. To me, the doctrines contained in the Bible are the only way to make sense of life and live it in the light of eternity. Otherwise, what is the purpose? The things of this life are temporal and fleeting and can be lost in an instant “sic transit gloria mundi.“ or, as Solomon said “Vanity of vanities! All is vanity." Eccl 1:2b
I had never heard of Amaterasu so I read the wiki article. Sounds similar to Babylonian, Greek, and Roman mythology (with which I am familiar) although these three do not have modern adherents while Amaterasu does.
Thanks Fasulye and turaisiawase for the references, I will check them out.

Btw, is the similarity between JW and jw.org a coincidence?

As far as languages are concerned, this is the best site I have ever come across:

plenty of free audio in many languages.

I just took a look (or, rather, a listen). It is great they have so many languages, but I found it irritating to listen to - all the references to things I have no belief in are pretty hard to ignore. It really brought home to me how important it is to listen to things that capture you, in order to be able to wallow in the pleasure of listening for hours on end.

Even though I am highly irreligious, I would find it very interesting to listen to bilingual Bible recordings. I hope someone has some links for any of the languages I am interested in :-)
