If A has beaten B to the punch, it means that A has landed his punch first. It is a boxing term.

“beat me to the punch" can be roughly translated as 先抢先赢 -- don't translate the punching or boxing directly or you miss the point.

Thank you Jaff and Snake Btw,Snake,your Chinese is in such a good level,I don't even use "先抢先赢"often Where and how did u learn Mandarian,I'm wondering how hard is it for a English speaker to learning Mandarian.Is it harder than a native Mandarian speaker to learn English For me, learning English well is really not an easy task. sorry,it's my fault, you are right
bacause,in ancient period most people could not use characters normatively,and with the development of writing characters, sometimes there are different ways to write one character.And this one should be less used or totally wrong 1 person has voted this message useful |
