I have left South Africa - and now I have suddenly gained more of an appreciation for the Afrikaans language and culture.

Now I wonder how to maintain the language?

- I speak often with my wife (Gives some privacy during a phonecall for example!)
- I try to speak to the in-laws when we phone them now and then.

My Afrikaans was never really that good though, so how can I improve? Watching movies might help, but I can already understand pretty good. (Besides where can I find some good tv series or movies here in the UK? There also don't seem to be many podcasts.) The only way to improve the way I speak is probably ... to speak it more often ;-)

Waneer ek klaar is gaan ek "HARRY POTTER EN DIE TOWENAAR SE STEEN" koop.

Sorry, I thought this was adding to my language log - and not 'Practical Self-Study Questions'!

(The post was just about finding afrikaans trainslations of 'the little prince' & 'harry potter' and reading those to improve language ability, so its not really anything new to this forum... more just for me to keep track of my progress!)
