nhk9, that sounds so systematic that it would probably suit me well. Maybe I'll do something similar when it gets closer to December 2008 when I'm aiming to take JLPT1. For now I think I'll try not to care too much about the requirements of JLPT and try to absorb vocabulary and grammatical structures from reading as much as I can.

In fact, I really like the graded reader I mentioned earlier because the texts in it have so huge sentences with all sorts of 「によると」's, 「或は」's etc. that more casual texts have started to look much simpler to me. :)

(And I've started pondering – once again – about flashcards... if I used only Japanese->English cards and stopped writing them down with every review, I could handle about nine cards per minute. That would be hardly a burden and I'd still get some benefit from spaced repetition as well.)
