thanks for the replies guys.
I have a copy of Norwegian: An Essential Grammar as well as both the Linguaphone and Teach Yourself Norwegian courses and I'm slowly progressing with them. One thing, does anyone know where I might be able to buy a copy of Sofies verden? I just read the English translation in my philosophy class and I enjoyed it. Any ideas on where I could order it from within North America? Also, does anyone know of some good Norwegian online radio stations I could listen to as I attempt to read my Norwegian online newspaper? =P tusen takk! I can recommend the Assimil course. There are 4 good speakers with different dialects, most of the lessons are funny and there is much variation in the topics. The German version of the book has several minor errors (one every 15. lesson or so) and once in a while I would have used another German word in the translation. But I still think this course is really good.

I bought some books from Bokkilden.no. It took nearly 2 weeks to get them but the postage was cheap since they send the books as letter. In case you want to listen to the book too I can recommend Lydbokforlaget.no. You can get the audiobook as download which is not only faster but cheaper than CDs. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Teach Yourself Norwegian is pretty ok. My sister has it and is using it right now to learn Norwegian, and she's getting along quickly. When it comes to listening, try radio stations on www.nrk.no and choose netradio. Try to click your way through from there. Other stations are radionorge, p4. Try out some of the links on this (fairly old) page: http://www.engberg.com/linknorge.htm or google for their names to find new links.
