Just see how well you do in Mandarin, or Finnish, if that's your choice. Finnish is not easy either. It's quite likely you will get frustrated. If that happens, DO NOT under any circumstances believe that you "lack talent" or any of that crap. Studying Esperanto can prove to you that you can learn a language well, even on your own, and it can teach you something about the structure of languages and language-learning in general, expand your horizons to some of the crazier concepts of languages. But it's possible to start with another language and learn all that - it's just a double load, not as easy as learning one thing at a time. Don't be too hard on yourself in learning this first foreign language.
