Sorry by using the word "cool", for it was the only word that would fit in a topic title.
Have you ever been interested in a language, but not interested in a culture (or vice versa)? Recently, I have been interested in the structure and syllabary of Japanese. However, I find that the culture is a little too strange for my taste (no offense!). I also remember being very fascinated with the Native Americans, but the languages weren't that fascinating to me. Have you ever felt anything similar to this before?

I like Italian culture but the language does nothing for me, but I think that's just because I speak a language that's very similar to it (Spanish). And I'm with you on the Japanese thing.

I love the Japanese language and much of its culture but its rampant and militant racism that is the norm within the clture is very upsetting.
And I love the sound of the German language but its culture isn't that inspiring.

I love how Polish sounds, and I'd love to learn it (it would be so easy for me), but the culture just doesn't attract me somehow...

For me, I love the sound of Swedish, and I have already learned some, but the pop culture isnt appealing to me, so therefore the culture isnt that appealing (yes, I rate cultures on their pop music)

That's pretty much tantamount to saying "I rate cultures based on the behaviour of their pre-pubescent boys" :-)
The majority of Scandinavians aren't particularly keen on our brand of pop either and don't listen to it at all. Just sayin'

I'd say the opposite with Sweden.
I like the country but the language is meh.
Russian I suppose would be it for me. I don't like the country so much but the language sounds and looks awesome.
