Another thread was discussing the future of English vs Chinese. This is to say that this is no problem!
The solution is SINGLISH from Singapore.
I think that most Singaporeans speak it, to stronger or lesser degree. It is an English based language with plenty of Hokkien, Mandarin and Malay words thrown in + mix of English and Chinese grammar. (If anybody from Singapore is reading, please correct me if needed! )
Singapore gov't has tried to KILL SINGLISH for decades. They have NOT SUCCEEDED because this language is practically inconquerable (Singaporeans love to hate to love it...) Could this be a serious language of the future?
Here are some Singlish videos I found! Problem already solve laah!
Singlish in the Office
How (not) to order party grub in Singlish
No Sell Pokk!
Day in the life of a Singlishman....
I spoke my first (volountary) English there, so I love Singlish because you don't have to feel stupid about poor accent or grammar when speaking English - just go for it and shout louder if people don't understand.
I like Singapore a lot!
