74 (Graduate Level)

2.0 (Advanced Low)

2.0 (Advanced Low)

2.9 (Advanced High)

2.9 (Advanced High)

Advanced Low.

I just got my scores on the exit exam, and I'm in raptures. I met and even exceeded my goals. Here they are:

Grammar - goal: 60 - received: 74 (Graduate Level)

Speaking Competency - goal : 2.0 - received: 2.0 (Advanced Low)

Writing - goal: 2.0 - received: 2.0 (Advanced Low)

Reading - goal: 2.0 - received: 2.9 (Advanced High)

Listening - goal: 2.0 - received: 2.9 (Advanced High)

My teacher said that it is very rare for a student on the seventh level (ie, not a graduate student) to receive Advanced High, and that the reading and listening scores were the highest in the school with the exception of the graduate students. I don't believe it. I even was afraid that I hadn't managed to get Advanced Low.

Hugs, please? And champagne.

My "defeat" this summer, though, was that I couldn't keep up with studying Hungarian while doing this intensive program. I will be going to Hungary without language skills, unfortunately. But I had to concentrate on Russian, and it paid off in the end.

I'm considering continuing on to get a Master's degree in Russian.

I'm also a bit sad that I've finally found a 'talent' (learning languages) and I'm not sure how I can turn it into a plus for my career. I wonder how long it would take me to get French up to "fluency" after all these years, or to add additional languages on top of Russian?
