From my writing style as well as the first name I gave in my profile it should be obvious that I'm female as well. Does it matter?

Thanks for this post because I think Dark_Sunshine was trying to promote some kind of excuse. If you want to do it, you will find the time no matter what. |

That's because women are less prone to obsessive and compulsive behavioral patterns ;p.

Huh? I don't exactly follow... are you saying men post more because they are crazy? |

No, not crazy. They (we) just develop obsessions easier (e.g. cars, to name the most popular one). When the right obsession is combined with the right aptitude, the result could be polyglottery.
There are more male geeks, nerds, buffs, boffins, scientists. More male polyglots. It's not because women lack aptitude, it is because they have a different mindset. Women don't want to become the victim of a meaningless obsession.
That's of course a hypothetical argument, because I am not a woman and lack intimate understating. However, I am sure a lot of people will see this as a good opportunity to demonstrate how insulted they feel 'bout my statement and the universe in general :).

Your statement led me to the assumption that you have a regrettably narrow mindset and either aren't particularly adept at perspective taking or avoid the effort it takes.
I'll be happy if you prove that first impression wrong, but until you do I'll feel sorry for you.
And now I have to admit that I lack the expertise to give an in-depth explanation of my view on this matter (it's an amateur's sketchy idea of gender studies, neuropsychology, sociology and some personal musings, and most of all I lack the correct vocabulary in English).
Yes, I probably should have remained silent but I might not be the only one.
