Even though I already posted, I just wanted to say that I don't hate any particular language. Yes, I may not want to
learn it, but that does not mean I hate it. When I say I have exhausted my interest in Romance languages, I am
saying that I just don't want to learn any more. Once I am done with French I'm done, but I don't hate it. It just
annoys me that I have to learn it.

I've never really had an interest in the romance languages.

This thread is taking an intriguing turn. I have to disagree, I've liked the sound of Spanish and French for a long time, but Germanic languages were hard for me to listen to until I became interested in Afrikaans and Dutch a few years ago. I haven't lost interest in Spanish or French, but I struggle to pronounce the gutteral French "r" correctly.

I wouldn't say I hated a language/language family either. There are languages that don't do it for me like Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc. I can't see myself learning them in this lifetime. Romance and East European languages more than do it for me for now.

I'll hop on the 'I don't care for romance languages' bandwagon. For me, and probably for many people, it's not any particular language I really don't like (except French), but rather the fact that the Romance languages are so familiar in the western world. Were Navajo a major language which I heard and heard about constantly I would surely grow tired of it too.

I'll have to say that the Romance languages are quite tiresome as well.

On the aesthetic side, sometimes they certainly can be beautiful, but are too "feminine" for me (I just can't shake the image of effeminate French butlers going oui! oui!, and stuff like that - blech!).

On the other side, I'm tired of people regurgitating the same old spoonfed lines like "They're the most useful since they're spoken everywhere" (being widespread makes them overexposed and kind of boring), or "They're the most beautiful in the world - that's why they're called the Romance languages!" (totally subjective opinion, and they're called ROMANce languages because of the Roman/Latin influence).

My favorite language branches are the Germanic (powerful, have a nostalgic, fairy tale feel to them, and sound ancient and mysterious), and the Celtic (magical, Tolkien-ish feel) language families.

I don't dislike a particular language family. As for Romance languages, I think I'm only a bit tired of French, which seems so "popular" and everyone seems to learn it. However, I like Spanish and Portuguese, especially the former, since it is spoken in so many countries and therefore has a diverse culture.
