Hi all,
I learned much of my English as a child. Since then I have spoken it with a definite accent and without oral clarity. This is something that I would like to change.
My specific problem is that when I speak in English, my speech is often slurred. This problem is isolated to my English.
I am familiar with accent coaches and speech therapists but I wonder if similar results could be achieved through self study. Has anyone been in a similar position or does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

You can learn to speak more clearly, but you can't achieve a native accent through self studies.
I have a similar problem with my English, which I don't speak daily now that I live in Mexico. While my understanding and reading is higher than before, my speech is a bit rusty. Reading out loud helps, without having someone to use as a standard, there's a limit on how far you can go at it.
