I've read all four in English and the first two in French as well. The first one is by far the best of the lot

I'm going to try and find the first one in French! Hopefully some bookstore in the USA will have it for sale.

I was expecting that www.amazon.fr would have it but rather ludicrously it appears you can buy the version in English but not in French.

Quel dommage!

Andy.

Andy, it is indeed available in French at Amazon.fr:

http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/0586049347/

The others seem difficult to find, as the series appears to be out of print.
Your real best bet might be to find a French used book store online, if there
is one (and there must be).

Well done that man! My searching was clearly confused by the fact that cover shown is in English...

Andy.

I've got both films and the first three books (I didn't know there was a fourth - thanks for pointing it out Andy!).

I remember that when I first read them, I did so over just one weekend since I couldn't put any of them down. I saw the films on Sky and I was initially disappointed that they were different to the books, but I realised that they are good action films in their own right.

By the way, there's an older version of The Bourne Identity film (I think it stars Richard Chamberlain, but I'm probably wrong) which was made in the eighties. If I recall correctly, it follows the book more closely than the recent film.

Ah I'd forgotten about that one. Yes, Richard Chamblerlain as Jason Bourne and Jaclyn Smith (of Charlie's Angels fame) as Marie St. Jacques.

Andy.

Honestly, these movies shouldn't have had "Bourne" in their titles. They had nothing to do with the books, even eliminating the main villian (Carlos the Jackal), who in my opinion was the most interesting character.

I hope this isn't too much of a derailment.

I, too, love movies in which the characters speak more than one language and always feel inspired to learn languages after watching them. My favorite scene in the movie "Braveheart" is when Wallace is in the tent with the princess and the old dude who says that Wallace is a savage in Latin to which Wallace responded in Latin and French. But I'm not so naive as to think that the real Wallace could speak other than his own native language.

I recently watched "the Interpreter," which I thought was ok, but I ended up falling asleep towards the end of it. In addition to the African langiage she spoke (can't remember the name) I heard the main character speaking French and Hebrew.
