I've been studying Polish now for almost 1 year at my local college, this is now in recess and I begin my second year in September. I have found that because the class was only for one evening a week, I needed a little more, so in May I launched into Schenker's "Beginning Polish", studying for approx an hour to 90 mins an evening. I am at present able to study between 5-6 evenings a week. I will begin lesson 5 on monday as I spend two weeks per lesson. I back this up with flash cards using words from the book which I use at work, when I get the chance ;-), together with listening to polish radio/reading polish news websites in the evening. I have a polish friend in Wrocław who I correspond with, albeit in basic polish at the moment. I also managed to get hold of pimsleur comprehensive polish which I am also incorporating into my schedule.
I would like to think this combination of study methods will act as a solid foundation for me in a year or so as I intend to go to Poland to attend an emersion course, which i hope will become a regular thing. If anyone has any further advice on what I could add or change, please feel free to comment.
