Hello -
I plan on taking (and hopefully passing) the German A1 exam this June in New York. Can anyone who has passed this test recently give me some advice?
I work full-time but study German every day, anywhere between 15 minutes and an hour. I have completed all 3 Pimsleur courses and am going through the Pimsleur German Plus CDs. I am through lesson 16 in "German in 32 Lessons" by Adrienne. In addition, I am reviewing lots of vocab (both production and recognition) in Anki.
Am I studying enough and doing the right things to pass level A1? I would love to hear about your experiences with the Goethe-Institut's exams.
Here's a link to the exam in case you're unfamiliar:

Cheers

I would suggest getting a tutor or taking classes at a local university--as much as CDs and books are helpful for teaching yourself, they can't correct you if you make a mistake (and German is hard enough as it is!) Look into your local community college, maybe they're offering something, and courses will probably be relatively inexpensive.
Good luck!

Thanks for the tip. I recently found a good German tutor using Craigslist. We are currently just meeting once a week for 45-minutes of grammar and conversation.

ischglboarder,
How successful was your exam? Could you share your experience of the German A1 exam? Was it difficult to pass? Were there many catches in the tasks? How would you advise to prepare?
