Hello, I have been thinking about studying multiple languages in order to become a translator/interpreter. I was thinking about going from country to country studying each language. Is there any programs out there anyone would know of that I could do such a thing? I feel like it would cost an obscene amount of money, though I have heard of people studying languages in many different countries. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, such a program doesn't exist. Perhaps the people you heard of had been through several programs, or maybe the same program on separate occasions? My recommendation is to get your TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) certificate. At the website, http://www.tefl.net you can access a database of job opportunities in foreign countries. I imagine you could spend a year or so in the country of your choice, and since it is a job, you'll actually get paid to do so! A second program that you can look into is i-to-i (www.i-to-i.com). It seems to be similar except it boasts a more visually appealing website and offers brochures ;-)
Another option would be the Peace Corps, which I believe sends you to a country for two years.
