Hi everyone, my name is Valeria, I'm twenty-years-old and I come from Salerno, Italy. I've just registered :) Actually I work as a kitchen porter in a vegetarian restaurant in Edinburgh to learn English and I'd like work as aupair in England.
I'd like thank you very much for you passion about languages because you inject enthusiasm into learning new languages.
I think that this website is very useful and has incresed my desire to improve my English. So thank you to the ideator and inventor of this website too and I'm happy that you think that Italian is very beautiful language. At the moment I live in a flat with two French guys and I would learn French later because is a brilliant composition of sounds (even if yesterday they told me that the pronounciation and grammar sometimes are difficult).
Anyway I saw that many members took language exams last years and I'd like ask you a question. I think that having a certificate will make the difference if you want study or work in an other country (I study in Rome Statesmanship and International relationship for cooperation and peace at the University and I would go away from Italy when I will graduate).
But how much is the difference between having or not a certificate? I mean the IELTS and Cae cost about 200,00 EURO and I think that during an interview somebody will test you grade of spoken language in a few minutes. Do you mind suggest some indication about difference about IELTS and Cambridge Exam? How much was important for you take an exam? Talking about reading, listening, writing, speaking and use of English, which was your favourite skill and which was the most difficult? For me the most difficult is listening and in these days I watch BBC news on http://news.bbc.co.uk . Does somebody know if there is a good website about phone English?
It's the first time that I commint myself to take an language exam and you know it will be better if I don't waste time and money.. So thank you for reading and good luck to everyone for your learning languages.
P.S. I apologize for grammar mistakes ^__^ cheers
