Thanks! That was super interesting. I've never believed in universal grammar.... even after a lot of reading on the
subject it always sounded like a load of hooey to me.
What really gets me is that someone has to explain to people that the brain is a thing that grows and changes. The
paragraph on the second page wherein they explain that cognition is not a toolbox so much as a machine tool for
making new tools as needed is a great metaphor. I just can't believe this is a new idea to some people. o.O; For
me, it underlines the desperate need for greater interaction between branches of science- I think linguists need to
work a little more closely with neuroscientists.
