For people able to receive BBC TV (or via iPlayer) and would be interested in the
original Swedish versions of Wallander, starring Rolf Lassgård (based on the novels),
there is one on this evening (Saturday) on BBC 4 at 21:00 (and available for some time
after via iPlayer).
Some of these have been shown before, although not all that were made unfortunately.
This is marked as being a repeat. I'm not 100% if I remember this story ("The Man who
smiled") being shown before, but possibly it was. I hope they are able to show all of
the Rolf Lassgård episodes, but they may not have the rights to them.
(An English version of this story starring Kenneth Branagh has definitely been shown,
at least once.)

The most recent episode shown (still available on iPlayer) was the great "Steget Efter"
("one Step Behind"). Nicely done, as was the Branagh version, and true to the spirit of
the book, if not to the letter.
Interesting to hear the Danish cop talking.
It seems fairly certain that BBC4 will just show the 4 episodes that they previously
showed, and not the earlier 5 Lassgård episodes that were made (i.e. making up all of
the then existing novels), which is a pity.
I imagine this is a bit of a build-up (for us Scandophiles) to "Forbrydelsen II" which
has been promised for the Autumn.
Sadly, nothing similar in Norwegian is planned, as far as I know.

You haven't got long to watch "The Man Who Smiled", IIRC, so hurry up :)
