So now that my Korean is almost at the level I want it at, I've started trying to find
resources for learning Spanish. There are certainly a lot more options for Spanish
learning that there are for Korean. It's a bit intimidating. I don't really feel like
going through countless books, podcasts, ebooks, ect so I figured I'd try and get some
suggestions first. I'm looking for stuff preferably in Latin American Spanish. Here's
basically what I'm looking for:
1. Any good podcasts for people learning Spanish? I already have Spanishpod101.com, but
I'm looking for something a bit better.
2. Spanish podcasts for native speakers?
3. Spanish language music? (Other than Shakira and Selena--I grew up listening to them)
Any genre is fine, but I like rock/alternative/indie best.
4. Any good Spanish shows/movies? I've tried watching some before, but the only ones I
found always turned out really weird. I'm sure there are shows out there that aren't
just characters making out with each other; I just need to find them^^
5. Any other random Spanish learning resources worth a look? Preferably free/cheap
6. Spanish language blogs?
I'm open to any other suggestions, tips, or ideas. Thank~

I'll write you some suggestions :)
Spanish TV series I enjoyed - El Internado; whole series in on youtube (no subtitles, which is a pity) it's a mystery/thriller/drama produced in Madrid.
Recent thread on Spanish language music
RTVE - plenty of Spanish materials - TV, radio, documentaries, some programs are downloadable as mp3 files.
"Learn Spanish online for free with VeinteMundos " - very good site
PONS - decent multilingual dictionary
Notes in Spanish - Spanish podcast I enjoy
Buena suerte :)

Hi there. I can give you some resources from a native perspective.
Some good song in Spanish that come to my mind right now are:
Rock
Tratame suavemente - Soda Stereo ("Cuando pase el temblor", "Profugos" and "Nada
personal" are very good songs too)
Hombre lobo en Paris - La union
Te quiero - Hombres G
Lamento Boliviano - Enanitos verdes ("Yo te vi en un tren" also)
Molinos de viento - Mago de oz (or "Fiesta pagana")
Entre dos tierras - Heroes del silencio
Mi muñequita sintetica - El haragan
La plaga - los teen tops
Dejame - Vilma palma e vampiros
Other genres:
Azucar amargo - Fey (pop)
Shabadabada - OV7
Te quiero tanto, tanto - OV7 (pop)
Algo esta cambiando - Julieta Venegas (pop)
Es por ti - Juanes (ballad)
Gavilan o paloma - Jose Jose (Ballad)
Javier solis - sombras nada mas (Ballad/ranchera)
La playa - La oreja de Van Gogh (and "Rosas", they are Pop/ballad I think)
Lo que tu necesitas - Alex syntek (pop)
Las manos quietas - Carlos perez (Italo disco)
Selana of course
Me gustas tu - Manu chao
Como te voy a olvidar - Los angeles azules (cumbia)
Tiene espinaz el rosal - Grupo Cañaveral (cumbia)
cumbia is a kind of music from Colombia, maybe you don't like it, but I think it is
still worth checking because some have very good lyrics, pronunciation and cumbia is
actually fun to dance.
Podcasts.
Here are the episodes of an old radio program aim to young adults

For Spanish television... I can't remember much right now, but there was some night
show that had monologues and interviews to celebrities (from all over the world). You
can search "Adal Ramones Monologos" or "Otro rollo" in youtube and find a some
episodes. It has a lot of colloquialisms and idiomatic expression, mostly from Mexico
though, so it is maybe hard to understand for beginners and not so much.
There are also many teen soap operas from Argentine like "Floricienta" transmitted on
Disney channel, and Sueña Conmigo from Mexico, transmitted on Nickelodeon. I don't know
if they are good since I don't watch much TV.
"Macario" is a good mexican movie. It is old, yet it is one of my favorites ever.
There's also "Tres metros sobre el cielo" which I haven't watched but everybody say
it's good one. Also "El laberinto del fauno" and "El estudiante"
My favorite blog is http://www.cibermitanios.com.ar/
he has post of everything, how to tie your shoes creatively, lateral thinking, latin
american philosophers, psychology, science and random things. His articles are always
charged with humor and interesting information. It is definetly one of the best blogs
in Spanish.
Other resources you can look to, which helped me while learning English and German, are
some good short stories. You might like "Todos los fuegos, el fuego", "De Cronopios Y
Famas" by Julio Cortazar, "Cuentos de la selva" by Horacio Quiroga and "Ficciones" by
Jorge Luis Borges.
As you said there is an overwhelming amount of material for Spanish, and I maybe have
give you more than what you want.
But if you ever need some more you can send a pm. :)

One of my favorite resources is Señor Jordan on YouTube. He is a Spanish teacher who has created tons of free videos. Link:
Señor Jordan
I also use Memrise for flash cards and
Duoling.
Finally, I borrowed Pimsleur's Latin American Spanish from the library and copied the
mp3's to my computer.
Buena suerte.

Some of my favourite free resources for learning Spanish:
Veinte Mundos
high-quality digital magazine with full audio and related links
Destinos
52-episode Spanish telecourse for beginners. It's dated, but it works very well. Full Spanish subtitles can be
turned on or off (but it's recommended that you turn them off so that you can focus on listening comprehension)
Notes in Spanish
Podcasts for beginners (quite a bit of English), intermediate (all in Spanish, but spoken more slowly) and
advanced learners (all in Spanish)
Duolingo
Good for practicing basic vocabulary and sentence structure. I think that only the first half of the skill tree is
really useful - after that, it moves too quickly through complex structures
italki
Find language partners or tutors, or post texts for corrections from native speakers
FSI Spanish Basic
very comprehensive course for building automaticity. It's a bit dry at times, but it will help you internalize Spanish
sentence structures.
for native speakers:
podcasts:
Fallo de Sistema - scifi, games, soft science
Nomadad - travel
A Hombros de Gigantes - science
Futuro Abierto - general interest, social issues
Buenos Dias America - news
TV shows:
(all on Drama Fever, with English subtitles that can be turned on or off. No Spanish subtitles)
Fragiles - medical dramedy
Desaparecida - crime, mystery
Isabel - historical drama
articles/news/sports/etc:
BBC Mundo
El Pais
