What is the difference (or contextual difference?) between 拿 and 带 ? They seem identical to me, but I have
a strong feeling one had a specific purpose over the other...
Example sentences:
他给你拿什么来了?
他给你带什么来了?
I'll admit that i havent seen the latter, but they both seem to work. Perhaps dai4 doesn't go with "na2".

They have a large overlap, and even if my answer is not perfect, I hope it will help.
Basically, you can think of 拿 as "to take" and 带 as "to carry". That's quite different, but when you want to say "to bring", indeed, both seem to fit...

so in a way, 拿 really only requires 1 hand (over a short distance)... And 带 may use both hands or be
"carried"/"brought" over a longer distance?
I just realized that distance may be part of it...

Apparently the answer is not necessarily clear to natives, but some guy suggests that in 拿 the emphasis is on the action of taking (you took it), while with 带 the emphasis is on the result (you brought it). The result is of course the same.
As for the distance, indeed 带 seems to denote a longer distance than 拿. When it comes to the number of hands required, I would tend to agree (I would 带 a huge suitcase and never 拿 it... but I would use both for a smaller object like keys).

A native gave me some input on this (finally), and according to her... they are exactly the same. I guess the
"personal" taste depends on whether you want to use a rising or falling tone? ;)

拿 is "carry with hand", 带 is "bring". If it is something very big, then you'd better use 带.
