I need to translate the following sentence:
"这个项目将为当地的经济添砖加瓦”。
Literal translation would be "This project will add bricks and tiles to the local economy." But it would make no sense.
So I translate like this "This project will greatly contribute to the local economy."
Anyone can tell if there is any fancier way of saying "contribute to"? I am looking for a more beautiful sentence.

Contribute to is the perfect word if you mean "add to".

Will give impetus to, will improve... there are many fancy ways, but contribute is fancy
enough as it is.
