"Sacar la pluma" in Spanish, means what? | ||

I heard this phrase in a Spanish language TV show. The context was about a man who did not approve of homosexuality then went to prision and "saco la pluma." It sounded as if this made him a hipocrite. It was important to the show and I did not understand the significance. I did not get the impression from the context that it meant "became gay" or anything like that, but maybe I am wrong. I have tried searching online and don't seem to be able to find an answer as to what this idiomatic expression means. Well, "tener pluma" means acting in an effeminate way like some gays do. See this discussion about it. From what you say I would think that "sacar la pluma" in this situation means that his manners or way of behaving was "camp" - people would think that he was homosexual. However, it would have helped to have the literal context in which it was spoken to get exactly what was meant.
