They all vary, even travelling 50 km between towns. But "sir" to me is just an "s"
followed by a schwa. In the North-East, "time" might sound more like a long e like "team"
rather than the long i. In South Africa, from what I hear on television (usually
cricket), is that "king" might sound like a long e like "keeng" (or in Dutch alphabet,
"kieng"), so almost all the pronunciations vary by country and regions within country.
