Mine is set to:
Fonts for: 'other Languages'
Serif: Zawgyi-One
Sans-serif: Zawgyi-One

and wikipedia works.

About Notepad, as far a i know its normal on Vista, on Win8 Microsoft added support for Burmese which makes it a lot easier to use Notepad together with Burmese.

I've just opened the Burmese Wikipedia on my old Windows XP netbook, and all characters were displayed without boxes. (I didn't check the proper handling of ligatures though.)

On that machine I had code2000.ttf and SIL Padauk (freeware) installed and I used Firefox with the default settings. BTW, SIL Paudak contains the same 160 glyphs that Microsoft's Myanmar Text contains.

If you install both free fonts you shouldn't have to change any Firefox settings.

As I've said before, I would bother trying to make Notepad work. Babelpad is superior to Notepad in pretty much any respect. Since it's a portable light-weight app (just one .exe file) it's an ideal Notepad replacement.

Here's a screenshot of an older version:

Thanks both for your replies. At this point only resignation remains I believe. I have installed all the fonts and still nothing. It is not the Computer's will.
