I have read plenty of recommendations for Spanish resources in general (for an English speaker trying to
learn Spanish).
What are some worthwhile books (or books with audio) for learning Spanish? Or are books a waste of time?
I am thinking of a physical book (or book with audio), but valuable online material is also of interest.

If you want to learn Spanish, anything in Spanish is good.
I don't know your Spanish level, but listening and reading simultaneously is very useful. You have two inputs and then you can practice shadowing (output)the audio with or without the text.
The best books are fiction or non-fiction best sellers. They use everyday language and it's usually easier to find its audiobook.
You can use these video Spanish news with its text:

You can find articles in different languages including Spanish and English.

You can use them as parallel texts.

I think Assimil Spanish With Ease is a good book with audio, also I like Praxis Language SpanishPod.com podcast,
they also provide text versions of their podcasts.

I recently bought the book "Side by Side Spanish & English Grammar." Quite useful for reviewing Spanish
grammar and contrasting it to its English counterparts. I recommend it.
