Hi all. I was wondering if a native Russian speaker, who has a good level of English,
would be able to give me a translation in Russian of the English phrase "Place no trust in tomorrow". I am as far as possible from a native russian speaker but here what I get with google-translating "No future" to russian and back. It is often a good sign when the back translation come back to the original query.
не будущее Neither am I a native english speaker but "No future" is how I understand you words "Place no trust in tomorrow". Quite pessimistic, in my opinion, your skin after all. Don't you prefer something more positive with I think the same meaning like "Live today", "Carpe diem" or something ? Original latin phrase is "quam minimum credula postero"
which is translated in English as "put very little trust in tomorrow" or "trust as little as possible in tomorrow/the next day/future etc.". And somthing like "как можно меньше верь завтрашнему дню" или "как можно меньше верь будущему" in Russian. More closely to "Place no trust in tomorrow" would be "Не верь завтрашнему дню" or "Не верь будущему". The verb may be changed to "доверяй/доверяйся" or "вверяйся". For example "меньше вверяйся будущему", "меньше доверяйся будущему" (or "поменьше ..."). Edited by Dragon27 on 05 August 2014 at 10:18pm 3 persons have voted this message useful |
