At first, when I saw only a few pages out of this course on the internet I though it was some kind of joke because it's both very funny and quite disturbing at times. (It's hard to take it seriously when chapter two is about "bezdelniki" who steal pencils at work.) But apparently this is a complete course which was used at US universities in the seventies and eighties. They produced at least three books with tapes to go with them. I don't really know of how much use this course would be for someone learning Russian, probably not very much without the tapes.

For those of you who are interested in the humorous bits, check out for instance page 105, page 124 or page 174.

You can download the whole book (about 21Mb) at http://newstar.rinet.ru/~goga/biblio/lipson/lipson.djvu
The file is in djvu format. It is a reader very similar to Acrobat. You can download the reader by looking it up on google. I downloaded it some months ago when I wanted to read another Russian language file.

Actually I just read the help file and found the website.
www.lizardtech.com.

You can adjust the size of the page/text the same as with Acrobat. I have included the file in my Russian folder.

I have enjoyed the texts. They certainly show a sense of humour.

The link to the book doesn't seem to be working, where can I find it now?

Thanks!

Also you can get a standalone djvu viewer here:

Edit: I found the book on emule.
