If your French is good enough and the resources in Frnech for Wolof are overall better than those published in other languages, go for it.

In fact, my working language is an L2. Not counting occasional conversation with family and
friends I know from a young age, I literally do everything in English: learning languages,
studying philosophy, watching Youtube, even writing personal reflections, talking to myself,
and hanging out with friends from all over the globe (who constitute the majority of my
social circles at presence).

I am not the only one who lives this way. I guess you do not see many people doing the same
because most people do not learn their L2 well, rather than there is any inherent
difficulty.

Go ahead fellow linguist. You won't regret it.

EDIT: I would like to add that it is certainly possible to use more than 1 language you know
well to acquire linguistic knowledge, at worst it gives you no discount, at best it is even
profitable since it means you have 1 more point of reference. I use English to do most
things because there are more and better resources, plus it is the best way to maintain and
improve it, but I do include Chinese resources in my Japanese programme when similarly
advanced materials are lacking in the Western world.

Thanks for all of the encouragement everyone!
I think I have enough experience with Dutch and French under my belt to go for it.

I have spent the kit and kaboodle on what Wolof/French bilingual resources there were to be
had! Hopefully I will find more in country.
