It's interesting to peruse the abstracts because you can see the cutting edge of foreign language teaching in
schools today. This is where language instruction is heading today. It's not those stuffy old classrooms that we
keep hearing about here at HTLAL. As you will see, there is great emphasis of technology. Not surprisingly, I note
that there is nothing about adults learning languages on their own.

What I find really interesting is that there is so little information on the real outcomes. Despite all the very
interesting ideas, proposals, perspectives and experiments, how well do the students actually speak the
language, especially when compared to native speakers of the same age? I'm very skeptical.
