I found an android app that plays built in lyrics, and it's free! Rocket Player is the name, and I've gotten it to work on both my Sony phone and my kindle fire tablet. It is meant to be a very simple music player, and to show lyrics click the three dots in the top right corner when a track is playing and click on "Show Embedded Lyrics". So if you have one of the recent Assimil sets that comes with an mp3 CD, you can read along while you listen anywhere without having to bring your book! It's great to be able to reread conveniently while listening. Now that bathroom break Assimil reviews can have audio as well, it's enough to make me want to stand up and shout "Huzzah!" at an annoyingly loud voice!
I did initially have a problem with the player. When I first tried it with my Assimil Sanskrit mp3s it only showed lyrics for a couple of the tracks (same problem on both devices). My guess was that the native players had "fixed" the tags for the tracks, so I right-clicked the mp3s as a group on my computer and changed both the album name (from Assimil Sanskrit to Sanskrit) and the album artist name (from Assimil Sanskrit to Assimil), and when I copied those mp3s to both players all tracks show the lyrics now!
