Greetings.
Hey has anyone ever read the book: Read Japanese Today: The Easy Way to Learn 400 Practical Kanji?
If you have read it, what are your thoughts on it?
Did it interfere with your mneumonics from RTK? Did it help?
I'm trying to decide whether to purchase this to enhance my reading skills or wait and go through RTK2, which I have waiting for me on my shelf.
Thanks in advance for the advice.
Tryllid.

RTK2 is nothing more than a systemic guide for (mostly rote) learning the readings,
and most people tend to skip it and go straight into readings w/furigana. It's
supposed to be really good if you want to make an educated guess on how to read an
unknown character or compound. IMO, after learning all those mnemonics, I'd rather
just go straight into reading and pick up pronunciation as you go along.
I think that if you're done with RTK, it shouldn't really present any problems. If its
purpose is to present the meanings, I wouldn't do it while doing RTK just in case any
confusion occurs. But then again, I haven't read or seen the book you mention so I'm
not sure how helpful I'm being. All in all, I think it'll be fine for after you finish
Heisig's course.
